Starting Location:
Rogers Lake boat launch, Grassy Hill Road, Old Lyme. Take I-95 Exit 70
on the east side of the Baldwin Bridge.
At the bottom of the ramp take Route 1 north (easterly) and follow for
about four miles until you pass some store fronts on the right near the end
of Rogers Lake to your left.
Just past Rogers Lake take the first left on Grassy Hill Road. The (well marked) boat launch is on
the left in about one milebut may be filled with boat trailers during
weekends with nice weather.
Ride Description:
This quite hilly ride heads up Grassy Hill Road before turning east to
Chesterfield and a visit to Dinosaur Crossing on Route 85. The ride then turns south and goes
into Flanders before heading up past Pattagansett Lake and then on to a rest
stop at the Salem Creamery.
Continuing, the ride takes some back country roads up to Colchester,
the turn-around and probable lunch stop. Then head back down past Lake Hayward en route to a stop
at Devil's Hopyard State Park.
And then it's back to the starting point via Route 156 and several
side roads.
