Degree of Difficulty Index:  737 ft / 16.7 mi = 44.13 ft/mi         Terrain:  Rolling

 

Killer Hills:  One short (~0.25 mi.) hill on Whirlwind Hill Road early in the ride (3.9 mi. cue)

 

Geographical Region:  South Central Connecticut

 

Starting Location (city/town):  Northford (North Branford)

 

Starting Location (detailed directions to):  Aces Magnet School (formerly William Douglas Commons), Old Post Road in Northford just a bit up the hill past the Edward Smith Library (near the intersection of Rtes. 17 & 22).  Please note that the Aces Magnet School is a school and that the parking area is not available while school is in session.  Please schedule your ride accordingly. 

 

Ride Description:  This relatively short ride starts in the Northford section of North Branford and travels into and through an extensive portion of Wallingford largely on roads that don't have heavy trafficthough there are a few places along the route where traffic is a concern.  There are several hilly sections so you will get a good workout even though the ride is less than 20 miles in length.
