Special Directions:
Take I-95 Exit 70 in Old Lyme. Follow Route 1 north (easterly)
about 2.5 miles from the west heading exit, or about 3.5 miles from the east
heading exit to Town Woods Road, which is just before you reach the south end
of Rogers Lake and Hains Park.
Turn left and follow for 0.4 miles to Senior Center access road on
left (sign).
Note: Parking
for two or three cars should not be a problem. If a large group is planning to use the parking area here
during the week it would be good form to ask for permission beforehand. It will probably be granted.
Ride Description: The
ride passes many forested areas and considerable farmland over mostly rolling
terrain (there are a few uphill stretches and several exhilarating down
hills) through the towns of Old Lyme, Lyme, Salem and East Haddam A visit to
Devil's Hopyard State Park and Chapman Falls is featured. Chapman Falls is a
great spot for lunch.
