Judy's Stonington to Watch Hill Ride

 

Total Distance:  33.1 miles                          Elevation Gain:  953 feet

Killer Hills: There are couple "gassers" near the end of the ride

Starting Location:  I-95 Exit 91 CPL (Rt. 234) in Stonington

 

Ride Description:  This is a picturesque ride over mostly flat terrain that travels through Pawcatuck and Westerly, RI to Watch Hill where there is a good spot to enjoy lunch or a snack.  There are many lovely views of the Pawcatuck River en route and a special view of Fishers Island Sound and Block Island Sound from the Watch Hill Lighthouse.  There are a couple hilly sections on the return trip.

Watch Hill Yacht Club on right (business district)

Watch Hill Lighthouse. The lighthouse station was established in 1807. The current lighthouse and keeper's house were built in 1856. It is located at the juncture of Fishers Island Sound and Block Island Sound. Although the lighthouse is not open to the public, the location and views are spectacular. It is a great spot for a lunch or snack break. Dont miss it!
