Total Distance:  42.4 miles                Elevation Gain:  2000 feet (estŐd)

 

Degree of Difficulty Index:  2000 ft / 42.4 mi = 47.1 ft/mi               Terrain: Rolling to hilly (estŐd)

 

Killer Hills:  Middle and Upper Butcher Rd 6%-17% grade; Boyer Rd 6% one mile

 

Geographical Region:  North Central Connecticut

 

Starting Location (city/town):  South Windsor

 

Starting Location (detailed directions to):  Town Center Shops, 1735 Ellington Road.  1 mile north of Evergreen Walk and 1.5 miles north of Buckland Hills Mall on Buckland Street.  I-84 exit 62, from east, take a left on Buckland Street, I-84 west, exit 62, right on Pleasant Valley, left on Buckland Street.

 

Ride Description:  1st 8 miles fairly flat, then significant climbs and descents for the next 20 miles with the last 14 miles fairly flat.  Scenic views of Shenipsit Lake and Crystal Lake, dairy and horse farms.
