SCCC's Shoreline Short Ride

Starting Location (city/town):  Milford

 

Starting Location (detailed directions to):  Jonathan Law High School, 20 Lansdale Ave., Milford, but meet at the parking lot on the Milford Point Road side (the parking lot farthest from Rt. 1), Take I-95 Exit 34.  At bottom of ramp turn left. Lansdale Ave is the first right (Walgreens on the corner).  Right on Lansdale Ave to the light at Milford Point Rd. Right at the light, then immediate right into the parking lot.

 

Ride Description:  This short ride travels over essentially flat terrain through interesting portions of Milford with relatively light traffic and features some outstanding views of L. I. Sound.  It visits the Audubon Center early in the ride, passes through Silver Sands State Park using service roads and provides a view of Milford Harbor towards the end of the ride.

Look for the osprey nests on platforms in the 840-acre Charles E. Wheeler Salt Marsh

Downtown Bridgeport and the Shakespeare Theater in Stratford are visible across the marsh

Walnut Beach, a Milford city beach is on the right

Nettleton Ave. was closed to through traffic when the state opened Silver Sands State Park

Start ride through Silver Sands State Park on service roads

This road used to be a direct connection between Broadway and East Broadway, but was closed when Silver Sands State Park opened. Portions are gravel for about a third of a mile.
