SCCC's Branford, Guilford, Stony Creek Ride

Total Distance:  20.6 miles                        Elevation Gain:  720 feet  

 

Degree of Difficulty Index:  720 ft / 20.6 mi = 34.88 ft/mi          Terrain:  Flat to rolling

 

Killer Hills:           None; however, Moose Hill Road is a lengthy, uphill slog

Starting Location (detailed directions to):  I-95 Exit 56 CPL (Leete's Island Road/Stony Creek) in Branford 

 

Ride Description:  This is an interesting, short ride over mostly flat to rolling terrain (w/ one serious uphill stretch on Moose Hill Road starting at mile cue 3.7).  The ride visits Guilford Green w/ its many interesting and quaint shops located nearby, before heading to a circuit of Sachem's Head and ending w/ a visit to Stony Creek.  There are excellent views of the salt marshes located along Rt. 146 (excellent biking road w/ smooth surface and wide shoulders) while traveling from Guilford Green to Stony Creek.
