The eRide – East Windsor, Enfield, East Longmeadow and Ellington

Starting Location (city/town):  East Windsor

 

Starting Location (detailed directions to):  Broad Brook Elementary School, 14 Rye St., Broad Brook section of East Windsor.  Take I-91 Exit 45 (Rt. 140) and go east on Rt. 140 for ~ 4 miles; turn right (south) on Rt. 191 (Main St) and follow Main St for a mile (continue on Main St past where Rt. 191 goes R) to a fork @ SS (Windsorville Rd is L fork) and take the right fork onto Rye St.  The school will appear shortly on the right.  Use the 1st school parking lot that you come to (on the right). 

 

Ride Description:  This is an ideal spring warm-up ride over mostly flat terrain through three counties in two states.  The ride derives its name from four of the five towns visited (East Windsor, Enfield, East Longmeadow and Ellington) and the bonus town is Somers.  The Somers Recreational Area or the Ellington Green are ideal spots for a rest/snack/lunch break.  Amongst the sights along the way are landscape nursery farms, dairy farms, tobacco farms and drying barns, crop farms, Xmas tree farms, horse farms, a berry farm, several golf courses and the Four Town Fairgrounds...a veritable plethora of delightful sights.
