Barkhamsted Reservoir Ramble

Starting Location (city/town):  Barkhamsted

 

Starting Location (detailed directions to):  Saville Dam parking area, intersection of Rtes. 219 and 318, Barkhamsted  From Rt. 44 in the center of New Hartford, take Rt. 219 north for 3.8 miles, then BL at the fork onto Rt. 318. The parking lot will be immediately across the road to your right.

 

Ride Description:  This is a scenic roller coaster ride through many forested areas and the very small towns of Barkhamsted, Hartland, West Hartland and East Hartland. The ride starts at the Saville Dam, with magnificent views of the Barkhamsted Reservoir, and surrounding hills.  This is an exceptionally hilly ride.  The ~ 4 mile stretch from the north end of the reservoir to East Hartland is a very difficult, continuous uphill climb without much relief.
