Starting Location: Starts
and ends behind the Milford Taylor Library at Fowler Field, off Route 162 in
downtown Milford. For ease of mapping, the actual Start (0.0-mile point) is
at the traffic light at the intersection of Shipyard Lane and Route 162.
Parking: From
Route 162 turn onto Shipyard Lane. For public parking, go down hill bearing
to the right and around the tennis courts. Parking is on the left on the far
side of tennis courts, near a baseball diamond across from the boat launch.
Ride Description: This
ride starts at the intersection of Shipyard Lane and Route 162 at an
elevation of 18 feet in downtown Milford, and climbs through the country
roads of Orange, Ansonia and Derby. You start your first climb at 0.0 miles
climbing @ 60 ft/per mile for the first 4 miles to 240 feet. This is the
warm-up, from here on the climbs are more rigorous, with climbs and descents
of 6% to 12%, (90 to 130 ft/mi.) for 1 to over 3 miles at a time being the
norm for the rest of the ride.
