City/Town:  Southbury

Starting Location:  I-84 Exit 16 CPL @ jct. of Rt. 188 and Old Waterbury Road; from I-84 Exit 16; go right on Rt. 188 (Patty's Pantry will be on the right almost immediately).  Go left @ the traffic light (across from Patty's Pantry) onto Old Waterbury Rd.  CPL is on the immediate left after your turn.

Ride Description:  This scenic ride is over mostly rolling terrain with two steeply hilly sectionsone as you climb up to Bethlehem (~ 9.0 mi. to 12.8 mi.) and the other towards the end of the ride as you depart Southbury (29.2 mi.) and go up and over a ridge to the CPL (32.1 mi.).  Having gotten the discussion of the hills out of the way, the balance of the ride is simply outstandinglots and lots of very scenic rural farmland and forested vistas over sparsely traveled roads.  The suggested lunch/snack stop is in Bethlehem where there is a grocery store (14.7 mi) from which to obtain provisions.  Bethlehem Green @ 14.3 mi. is another great stopping place if you don't need to purchase things at the store.  See below for other Points of Interest on this very fine, but hilly ride.
